Forestry Operative

About the Role

Our client is seeking a hardworking and safety-conscious Forestry Operative to join their team managing woodland estates around Brighton . This role involves a variety of practical tasks related to sustainable forest management, including tree felling, planting, and maintenance. You will work as part of a dedicated team, contributing to the health and productivity of forest ecosystems. This is an essential, hands-on role for someone who enjoys outdoor work and has a commitment to responsible land management in the beautiful East Sussex countryside.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform safe and efficient tree felling, limbing, and cross-cutting operations.
• Undertake tree planting and restocking activities according to forest management plans.
• Carry out vegetation control, including bracken and scrub clearance.
• Assist with forest path maintenance and woodland infrastructure repairs.
• Operate and maintain forestry tools and equipment, such as chainsaws and brushcutters.
• Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and site-specific risk assessments.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Forestry Operative or in a similar outdoor work environment.
• Certification in chainsaw operation (e.g., NPTC Level 2) is highly desirable.
• Physical fitness and ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions.
• A strong understanding of health and safety procedures in forestry operations.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow instructions accurately.
• Willingness to travel to different woodland sites across the region.
