About the Role

Our client is looking for a motivated Forestry Technician to support forest management and inventory operations in the Edinburgh region. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting forest inventory surveys, including measuring tree height, diameter, and species identification.
• Collect data on forest health, pest and disease incidence, and site conditions using established protocols.
• Participate in reforestation and planting activities, including site preparation and seedling deployment.
• Support forest fire prevention and suppression efforts as directed.
• Operate and maintain forestry equipment, such as GPS devices, measuring tools, and basic hand tools.
• Assist with mapping forest stands and recording spatial data using GIS tools under supervision.

Requirements

• Diploma or Certificate in Forestry, Arboriculture, or a related natural resource field.
• Basic understanding of forestry principles and practices.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Familiarity with using GPS devices and basic data recording methods.
• Good observational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions from senior staff.
