About the Role
Our client is seeking a creative and skilled Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist to join their dynamic research team in Stoke-on-Trent . This position focuses on the design, development, and optimisation of novel drug delivery systems and formulations for a range of therapeutic agents. You will play a key role in transforming active pharmaceutical ingredients into effective, stable, and patient-friendly dosage forms. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of pharmaceutics, materials science, and drug delivery technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop various pharmaceutical dosage forms (e.g., oral solids, injectables, topical).
- Conduct pre-formulation studies, including characterisation of APIs and excipients.
- Perform formulation development experiments and optimise formulations for stability, bioavailability, and manufacturability.
- Utilise a range of analytical techniques to evaluate drug product performance and quality.
- Collaborate with process development and manufacturing teams to ensure successful scale-up and technology transfer.
- Prepare formulation development reports and contribute to regulatory submission documents.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
- Hands-on experience with various dosage forms and associated manufacturing technologies.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, dissolution testing, and physical characterisation methods.
- Strong understanding of drug delivery principles and excipient functionality.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
