About the Role
Our client is actively recruiting a talented Formulation Scientist to join their expanding pharmaceutical development department in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is integral to the process of transforming promising drug candidates into safe and effective medicinal products. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing drug formulations, ensuring stability, bioavailability, and manufacturability. Working within a state-of-the-art facility, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analytical development, process engineering, and regulatory affairs, contributing critical expertise to advance our client's pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative formulations for various dosage forms (e.g., oral, parenteral, topical).
- Conduct pre-formulation studies to characterize drug substances and excipients.
- Perform stability studies according to ICH guidelines and analyze results to ensure product shelf-life.
- Evaluate and select appropriate excipients based on formulation requirements and compatibility.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment used in formulation development and characterization.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation for regulatory submissions, and present findings internally.
Requirements
- MSc or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (3+ years) in pharmaceutical formulation development.
- Solid understanding of physical chemistry, materials science, and drug delivery principles.
- Experience with common pharmaceutical formulation equipment and analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, dissolution testing).
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and guidelines (e.g., ICH, FDA, EMA) relevant to drug product development.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail, particularly for work conducted in Newcastle upon Tyne .
