About the Role
Our client, a renowned pharmaceutical company, is seeking a skilled Formulation Scientist to join their innovative drug development team in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire . This hybrid role combines hands-on laboratory work with strategic research planning. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing pharmaceutical formulations for novel drug candidates, ensuring their efficacy, stability, and bioavailability. Your expertise will be crucial in translating scientific discoveries into viable drug products that can reach patients. Working within a state-of-the-art facility, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of chemists, biologists, and analytical scientists.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop various dosage forms (e.g., oral, injectable, topical) for small molecules and biologics.
- Conduct pre-formulation studies, including physicochemical characterization of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
- Optimize formulation parameters to achieve desired release profiles, stability, and manufacturability.
- Develop and validate analytical methods for characterizing drug formulations and assessing product quality.
- Prepare development reports and contribute to regulatory documentation related to formulation development.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
- Proficiency in various formulation techniques and equipment.
- Solid understanding of drug delivery systems, pharmacokinetics, and product stability.
- Experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, DSC, TGA, and dissolution testing.
