Formulation Scientist

About the Role

Our client, a leader in pharmaceutical innovation based in Cambridge , is looking for a creative and skilled Formulation Scientist to join their Drug Product Development department. This role is central to designing and developing stable, effective, and patient-friendly dosage forms for novel drug candidates. You will conduct formulation studies, optimize drug delivery systems, and contribute to the preclinical and clinical development of new medicines. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop novel pharmaceutical formulations for various routes of administration (oral, injectable, topical, etc.).
• Conduct pre-formulation studies to assess drug properties and excipient compatibility.
• Perform formulation optimization experiments to enhance drug stability, bioavailability, and manufacturability.
• Characterize formulated products using various analytical techniques (e.g., dissolution testing, particle size analysis, HPLC).
• Prepare formulation development reports and contribute to regulatory submission documents.
• Collaborate with analytical development, process development, and manufacturing teams.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• In-depth knowledge of drug delivery systems, excipients, and dosage form design principles.
• Hands-on experience with formulation techniques and analytical characterization methods.
• Understanding of GMP requirements for drug product development.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
