Job Description

About the Role

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Freight Forwarder to manage international and domestic shipments from their operational base in Plymouth . You will be responsible for coordinating the movement of goods on behalf of clients, ensuring all logistical, documentation, and customs requirements are met efficiently. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of global trade regulations, and the ability to solve complex logistical challenges. You will be a key contact for clients, carriers, and customs authorities, ensuring seamless transit of their cargo.

Key Responsibilities

Arrange and manage international and domestic freight movements via air, sea, and road transport.
Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and invoices.
Liaise with airlines, shipping lines, trucking companies, and customs brokers to secure bookings and manage transit.
Advise clients on optimal shipping methods, routes, and associated costs.
Track shipments, provide updates to clients, and resolve any issues or delays promptly.
Ensure compliance with all relevant import/export regulations and trade laws.

Requirements

Proven experience in freight forwarding or international logistics.
Comprehensive understanding of shipping terminology, Incoterms, and customs procedures.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
Proficiency in using freight management software and standard office applications.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Familiarity with different types of cargo and handling requirements is an advantage.
