About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Civil Engineer to join their established engineering consultancy in Manchester, Greater Manchester, UK . This role is fundamental to ensuring the stability and safety of diverse construction projects by providing expert analysis of soil and ground conditions. You will be responsible for site investigations, laboratory testing interpretation, and the design of foundations, retaining walls, and earthworks. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will play a critical role in overcoming subsurface challenges and ensuring the successful execution of projects ranging from commercial developments to large-scale infrastructure works.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage geotechnical investigations , including site surveys and borehole drilling supervision.
- Interpret data from laboratory testing and field investigations to assess ground conditions.
- Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining structures, and slope stability solutions.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, risk assessments, and design recommendations.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to integrate geotechnical solutions.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant UK geotechnical standards and building codes.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Professional Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it.
- Significant experience (5+ years) in geotechnical analysis and design.
- Proficiency with geotechnical software packages (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio).
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and relevant design codes.
- Excellent report writing and client liaison skills.
