About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Geotechnical Civil Engineer to join their established team in Sunderland . This role focuses on the ground conditions and structural stability aspects of various construction and infrastructure projects. You will conduct site investigations, analyze soil and rock mechanics, and design foundations, earthworks, and slope stability solutions. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the safety and longevity of structures built across the region, contributing significantly to the firm's reputation for robust engineering in Tyne and Wear .
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage geotechnical site investigations, including desk studies and site testing.
- Analyze soil and rock data to determine engineering properties and potential risks.
- Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and earthworks to suit ground conditions.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with slope stability, settlement, and seismic activity.
- Prepare geotechnical reports, design recommendations, and specifications for construction.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and other disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical design and site investigation.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio Suite, Plaxis) is essential.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
- Familiarity with relevant UK geotechnical standards and Eurocodes.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
