About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Health and Safety Officer to join their construction operations in Leeds . You will play a critical role in ensuring a safe working environment across all project sites, developing and implementing comprehensive health and safety strategies. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards, conducting thorough risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture among all employees and subcontractors. Your expertise will be vital in maintaining compliance with all relevant UK health and safety legislation and ensuring the well-being of everyone on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor the company's health and safety management system.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, reporting findings and implementing corrective actions.
- Deliver health and safety training to employees and subcontractors, promoting a culture of safety awareness.
- Ensure compliance with all legal requirements and industry best practices related to health and safety in construction.
- Liaise with external bodies, such as the HSE, to ensure adherence to regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of all health and safety activities, audits, and training.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer , preferably within the construction industry.
- Relevant qualification such as NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.
- In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and its application in a construction setting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough inspections and deliver engaging training sessions.
