Location: Buckingham, Buckinghamshire Salary: £38,000-£45,000 + £25 per hour for call-outs Hours: Monday-Friday, 7am-5pm + Saturday rota Package: Company van, fuel card, phone and tool allowance
Want a Plant Fitter Role Where You Can Actually Make a Difference?
If you're a Plant Fitter who's tired of being just another engineer on the books, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
Alecto Recruitment is working with an established plant hire business in Buckingham that needs an experienced Plant Fitter to take ownership of workshop maintenance, repairs and customer support.
You'll be working directly with the directors, maintaining a varied fleet of equipment and, importantly, helping shape how the business develops its engineering services.
This isn't just about fixing machines. There's an opportunity to help grow the workshop and develop more on-site engineering work.
What's in it for you?
£38,000-£45,000 (depending on experience) £25 per hour for out-of-hours work and call-outs. Company van, fuel card and mobile phone provided. Tool allowance. Monday to Friday, 7am-5pm. Saturday rota, 8:30am-12pm. Bonus scheme linked to company performance. A varied role covering workshop and site-based work. Direct access to the directors and the opportunity to influence future plans. Potential to help expand the service department as the business grows. What will you be working on?
You'll be maintaining, servicing and repairing a varied range of plant hire equipment, including:
Crushers and screening equipment. Excavators and diggers. Telehandlers. Small tools and associated plant equipment. The company's transport fleet. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include carrying out PDIs, servicing hire equipment, diagnosing faults, responding to breakdowns, ordering parts and completing customer repairs. You'll also attend customer sites when required, assist with machinery handovers and help keep the workshop running efficiently.
What are we looking for?
We're keen to speak with experienced Plant Fitters, Plant Engineers, Heavy Plant Mechanics and Workshop Engineers who can confidently diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs.
You'll need a strong mechanical background, a practical approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently. Experience with crushers, excavators, telehandlers or small tools would be particularly useful.
Just as importantly, you'll be someone who takes pride in their work, responds promptly when issues arise and wants to contribute beyond simply completing the next repair.
Why consider this opportunity?
The directors want to expand the mechanical services the business offers its customers. The right person will have the opportunity to help develop that plan, increase the amount of on-site work and contribute to the future growth of the workshop team.
If you want a role where your experience is valued, your ideas are heard and you can help shape the direction of the engineering operation, this is worth a conversation.
