Industrial Electrician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and certified Industrial Electrician to join their manufacturing operations in Portsmouth . This role is essential for maintaining and repairing the electrical systems and machinery within our production facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all electrical equipment, diagnosing and resolving faults, and undertaking planned preventative maintenance. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with extensive knowledge of industrial electrical systems and a commitment to workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, and components in an industrial setting.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment, identifying root causes of malfunctions.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and electrical infrastructure to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret complex electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Ensure all work complies with current electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Assist in the commissioning of new equipment and electrical installations.

Requirements

• Completed apprenticeship in electrical installation or a related field.
• Valid JIB/ECS card or equivalent certification.
• Proven experience working as an Industrial Electrician, preferably in a manufacturing or plant environment.
• In-depth knowledge of three-phase power, control systems, motors, and PLCs.
• Familiarity with testing equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation related to electrical work.
