About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Industrial Engineer to focus on manufacturing excellence within their facility located in Southampton . This role is crucial for enhancing production efficiency, improving product quality, and reducing operational costs through the application of engineering principles and methodologies. You will be deeply involved in the day-to-day manufacturing processes, working closely with production staff, quality control, and management to implement sustainable improvements. As an on-site engineer, you will have direct visibility and influence over the plant floor, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and operational discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze production processes, identifying inefficiencies, waste, and opportunities for improvement.
- Design and implement layout changes, workflow optimizations, and material handling solutions.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to reduce cycle times, defects, and costs.
- Conduct time studies and ergonomic assessments to improve workstation design and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field.
- 2-4 years of practical experience in an industrial engineering role, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and quality improvement techniques.
- Proficiency in CAD software for layout design and process flow charting.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to translate findings into actionable plans.
