Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and skilled Information Security Engineer to join their team in Coventry . This role offers a hybrid working model, balancing the benefits of in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining the security infrastructure that protects our client's valuable data and systems. This position requires a strong technical aptitude for identifying and mitigating security risks, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and contributing to a robust cybersecurity posture. The successful candidate will work closely with IT operations and development teams to embed security best practices throughout the technology lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and endpoint protection solutions.
• Conduct regular security audits, risk assessments , and vulnerability scans to identify potential threats.
• Develop and implement security procedures for incident detection, response, and recovery.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure the secure configuration and operation of servers, networks, and cloud environments.
• Provide technical guidance on security best practices to internal teams.
• Maintain and update security documentation, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, CySA+) are preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in an information security or cybersecurity role.
• Proficiency in network security principles, firewall management , and intrusion detection systems.
• Experience with cloud security concepts, particularly within AWS or Azure environments.
• Familiarity with security incident response and management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication abilities.
