Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Information Security Engineer to join their team in Reading , operating on a hybrid basis. This role is critical for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organisation's security infrastructure. You will work on protecting systems and data from cyber threats, ensuring compliance with security standards, and responding to security incidents. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in cybersecurity, a proactive approach to threat detection, and the ability to collaborate effectively both in-office and remotely, contributing to a secure and resilient digital environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions.
• Implement and maintain security policies and procedures across the IT infrastructure.
• Monitor security systems and logs to identify and respond to security threats and incidents.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, coordinating remediation efforts.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including architecture diagrams and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security is integrated into system design and deployment.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Information Security Engineer or similar role.
• Strong understanding of network security principles, protocols, and technologies.
• Hands-on experience with security tools and platforms, including SIEM and EDR solutions.
• Knowledge of cloud security best practices (AWS, Azure).
• Familiarity with relevant compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
