Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Information Security Engineer to join their established IT department in Newcastle upon Tyne . Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage network security infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to protect company assets and sensitive information.
• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
• Respond to and investigate security incidents, developing and executing remediation plans.
• Stay abreast of emerging security threats and technologies, recommending and implementing appropriate security solutions.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of system design and deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in information security engineering or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, security architecture, and common attack vectors.
• Hands-on experience with security tools such as SIEM, vulnerability scanners, and endpoint protection.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate technical information clearly.
