Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Information Security Engineer to join their established security operations team in Newcastle upon Tyne . In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization's security infrastructure to protect against sophisticated cyber threats. You will work hands-on with various security technologies, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our client's systems and data. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically adept security professional who is passionate about building and maintaining secure environments within a collaborative, office-based setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain security solutions including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint security.
• Implement and manage security monitoring tools and protocols to detect and respond to threats in real-time.
• Conduct regular security audits and reviews of systems and infrastructure.
• Develop and enforce security policies and procedures across the organization.
• Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Provide technical support and guidance on information security matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in information security engineering or a similar technical role.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP , and common attack vectors.
• Proficiency with SIEM solutions , EDR platforms, and vulnerability management tools.
• Experience with cloud security principles (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
