Insurance Claims Handler

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and organized Insurance Claims Handler to become an integral part of their team based in Edinburgh . In this role, you will manage a portfolio of insurance claims efficiently and effectively, ensuring prompt and fair resolution for policyholders. You will be the primary point of contact for claimants, guiding them through the claims process and investigating the circumstances of each incident. This position requires excellent communication skills and a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy and compliance with policy terms and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of insurance claims from first notification of loss (FNOL) through to settlement.
• Investigate claims, gather relevant information, and assess policy coverage and liability.
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with policyholders, providing updates and explaining the claims process.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants or their representatives within policy limits and authority levels.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of all claim details and documentation in the claims system.
• Liaise with third parties, such as loss adjusters, repairers, and legal advisors, as necessary.

Requirements

• Previous experience in an Insurance Claims role or a customer service-focused position.
• Good understanding of insurance principles and policy wordings.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in using claims management software and standard office applications.
