KS2 SEN Teaching Assistant

About the Role
Long Term Futures are working with a supportive junior school in Barnet to recruit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 2.
This is a varied role supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, speech and language needs, trauma and emotional regulation difficulties across Year 4 and Year 6.
The successful candidate will need to be adaptable, patient and confident tailoring their approach to pupils with different levels of need.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD and additional learning needs Providing targeted support within Year 4 and Year 6 Supporting speech, language and communication development Helping pupils develop emotional regulation strategies Providing structured 1:1 and small group support Supporting pupils with trauma-related behavioural and emotional needs Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies Supporting engagement, independence and access to learning Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral teamThe Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for someone who:
Has previous experience supporting children with SEN Has a good understanding of autism and ADHD Is confident supporting emotional and behavioural needs Can build strong relationships while maintaining clear boundaries Is flexible and comfortable supporting different pupils across KS2 Is calm, resilient and proactive Works effectively as part of a wider SEND teamExperience with speech and language interventions, trauma-informed practice or emotional regulation strategies would be particularly beneficial.
