About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead 3D Modeler to oversee their 3D asset creation pipeline in Oxford . This leadership role is crucial for guiding a team of talented modelers to produce high-quality 3D assets for various entertainment projects. You will be responsible for setting artistic standards, optimizing workflows, and ensuring the successful delivery of detailed and efficient models that meet project requirements. The ideal candidate has a strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional modeling skills, a keen eye for detail, and proven experience in leading and mentoring a 3D art team within a studio environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of 3D modelers, providing technical and artistic direction.
- Create high-quality, detailed 3D models (characters, environments, props) according to project specifications.
- Optimize 3D models for performance, polycount, and texture memory usage in real-time applications or rendering.
- Develop and maintain efficient modeling workflows and pipelines, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., texturing, rigging, art direction) to ensure seamless asset integration.
- Conduct quality assurance and review of 3D assets created by the team.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional experience in 3D modeling, with a focus on game development or animation.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Lead or Senior modeling role.
- Expert proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender.
- Strong understanding of hard-surface and organic modeling techniques, retopology, and UV unwrapping.
- Experience with PBR texturing workflows and software (e.g., Substance Painter, Quixel).
- Excellent artistic eye, attention to detail, and communication skills.
