Lead AI Ethicist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary Lead AI Ethicist to champion responsible AI development and deployment across the organization, operating in a fully remote capacity. This is a critical role focused on ensuring that artificial intelligence technologies are developed and used in a fair, transparent, and accountable manner. You will lead the development and implementation of ethical AI frameworks, guidelines, and best practices, working closely with engineering, product, legal, and policy teams. Your expertise will guide the company in navigating complex ethical challenges, building trust with users, and fostering a culture of responsible innovation in AI, setting the standard for ethical AI globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive AI ethics policies , guidelines, and best practices across the organization.
• Conduct ethical risk assessments for AI projects and products, identifying potential biases and societal impacts.
• Provide expert guidance on ethical considerations related to data privacy, fairness, accountability, and transparency in AI systems.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to embed ethical principles into the AI development lifecycle.
• Develop and deliver training programs on AI ethics for employees at all levels.
• Engage with external stakeholders, regulators, and academic institutions on AI ethics topics.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Philosophy, Ethics, Law, Computer Science, or a related field with a focus on AI ethics or technology ethics.
• Significant experience (5+ years) working on ethical, legal, or policy issues related to artificial intelligence.
• Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts and their societal implications.
• Proven ability to develop and implement ethical frameworks and governance structures.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration, ideally in a remote setting.
