About the Role
Our client is seeking a dynamic Lead Civil Design Engineer with a specialization in transportation infrastructure to join their established team in Reading . This leadership role involves overseeing the design and technical delivery of key transportation projects, including highways, road networks, and public transport infrastructure. You will be responsible for managing design teams, ensuring technical excellence, client liaison, and contributing to the strategic direction of the company's transportation division. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the civil design process for transportation projects from inception to completion.
- Develop and review technical designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications for highways and associated infrastructure.
- Oversee the work of junior engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
- Engage directly with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders to build strong relationships and ensure project success.
- Ensure compliance with DMRB (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges) and other relevant transportation standards.
- Contribute to business development activities, including bid preparation and proposal writing.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or equivalent.
- A minimum of 9 years' experience in transportation engineering, with a proven track record in design leadership.
- Extensive knowledge of highway design principles, traffic engineering, and geometric design.
- Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, KeyBridges, and traffic modelling tools.
- Strong project management, client management, and team leadership skills.
