About the Role
Our client seeks a dynamic and experienced Lead Civil Design Engineer to guide their design operations in Portsmouth . This pivotal role involves leading a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring the delivery of high-quality civil engineering designs for a diverse range of projects. You will be responsible for technical excellence, project coordination, and mentoring within the design team, contributing significantly to the company's reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions in the Hampshire area. This hybrid role offers the chance to blend collaborative office work with focused remote concentration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall civil design process, from conceptualization to detailed design and construction support.
- Manage and mentor a team of civil engineers and technicians, overseeing their workload and technical development.
- Ensure the quality, accuracy, and compliance of all design outputs with relevant standards and regulations.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and external stakeholders to define project scope and requirements.
- Develop and implement innovative design solutions for infrastructure projects, including drainage, roads, and site development.
- Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with a strong academic record.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in civil engineering design, with a proven track record in a leadership capacity.
- Expertise in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and drainage design packages.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK planning policies, building regulations, and environmental best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it is highly advantageous.
