About the Role
Our client seeks a dynamic and experienced Lead Civil Design Engineer to join their expanding operations in Cardiff , Wales. This critical role will involve leading the design engineering team, overseeing the development of innovative civil engineering solutions for a diverse portfolio of projects, including commercial, residential, and public infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the technical integrity of designs, mentoring a talented group of engineers, and collaborating closely with project managers and construction teams to deliver exceptional results. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the civil design team, assigning tasks and overseeing the quality of design outputs.
- Develop comprehensive civil engineering designs for new developments and infrastructure upgrades, adhering to project specifications and standards.
- Perform complex calculations for drainage, earthworks, roads, and utilities, ensuring constructability and compliance.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other consultants to achieve integrated project solutions.
- Review contractor submissions and respond to site queries during the construction phase.
- Stay abreast of new design techniques, materials, and regulatory changes impacting civil engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Significant experience (8+ years) in civil design engineering, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and drainage design packages.
- In-depth knowledge of UK planning regulations, building standards, and environmental considerations.
- Strong project management and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead a technical team.
