About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic Lead Civil Design Engineer to spearhead their innovative design initiatives in Birmingham . This senior position involves taking ownership of the conceptualization and detailed design phases for a variety of infrastructure and development projects across the West Midlands. You will be instrumental in driving technical excellence, fostering collaboration between design and construction teams, and ensuring that all designs meet stringent quality, safety, and sustainability standards. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct the civil design process for major infrastructure and land development projects.
• Develop innovative design solutions that optimize project performance, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability.
• Conduct rigorous technical reviews of designs, calculations, and specifications produced by the engineering team.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant national and local building regulations, standards, and planning policies in Birmingham .
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and external consultants to integrate design requirements and resolve technical challenges.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting best practices in civil engineering design and project execution.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience, typically 8+ years, in civil engineering design, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognized professional body.
• Demonstrated expertise in infrastructure design, including roads, drainage, earthworks, and utilities.
• Proficiency with advanced civil engineering software packages like Bentley MicroStation, OpenRoads, or similar.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with experience presenting technical information to diverse audiences.
