About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Lead Computational Biologist to spearhead their computational efforts in Newcastle upon Tyne . Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of computational and statistical methods for analyzing large-scale biological datasets, including genomics, proteomics, and transcriptomics.
- Manage and mentor a team of computational biologists, providing technical guidance and fostering professional growth.
- Collaborate closely with experimental biologists and clinicians to design studies, interpret results, and generate actionable insights.
- Develop and maintain robust data analysis pipelines and workflows, ensuring reproducibility and scalability.
- Contribute to grant writing and manuscript preparation, presenting research findings to scientific audiences.
- Evaluate and integrate new computational tools and technologies to enhance research capabilities in Newcastle upon Tyne .
Requirements
- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Significant experience (7+ years) in computational biology or bioinformatics, with a proven track record of leadership.
- Expertise in programming languages such as Python, R, or Perl, and experience with relevant biological databases and software packages.
- Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning techniques, and data visualization.
- Experience managing complex biological data analysis projects and delivering results on time.
