About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Data Scientist with extensive experience in Bioinformatics to join their fully remote research division. This is a leadership role where you will guide a team of data scientists and bioinformaticians in analyzing complex biological datasets to uncover critical insights and drive scientific innovation. You will be responsible for developing advanced analytical models, establishing best practices for data handling and interpretation, and collaborating closely with research teams to translate data into actionable scientific knowledge. This position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere, contributing to cutting-edge research.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and bioinformaticians in developing and applying advanced analytical methods.
- Design and implement sophisticated machine learning models and statistical frameworks for biological data analysis (genomics, proteomics, clinical data).
- Oversee the development and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and data warehousing solutions.
- Collaborate with research PIs and cross-functional teams to define project goals and analytical strategies.
- Communicate complex analytical findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ensure data integrity, reproducibility, and compliance with data governance policies.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in Data Science , Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in data science, with a significant focus on bioinformatics and biological data.
- Proven leadership experience managing a team of data scientists.
- Expertise in programming languages such as Python or R, and proficiency with relevant data science and machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Deep understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and experimental design.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies.
