Lead Environment Artist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished and visionary Lead Environment Artist to guide their world-building efforts in Sheffield . You will be responsible for defining the visual direction and quality of game environments, leading a team of talented artists to create immersive and believable worlds. This senior role requires a masterful blend of artistic skill, technical understanding, and leadership experience. You will work closely with the art director and other department leads to ensure cohesive and breathtaking environments that enhance the overall player experience, driving innovation in world design and execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of environment artists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
• Establish and maintain the visual quality and artistic style for all game environments.
• Oversee the creation of environment assets, including modeling, texturing, lighting, and set dressing.
• Develop and refine environment art pipelines and workflows for maximum efficiency and quality.
• Collaborate with technical artists and engineers to ensure performance optimization and technical requirements are met.
• Provide constructive feedback and guidance to team members throughout the production process.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in environment art for games, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior capacity.
• An outstanding portfolio showcasing exceptional environment art skills and a strong sense of composition, lighting, and mood.
• Expertise in industry-standard 3D modeling and texturing software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Substance Suite).
• Proficiency with modern game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and their environment creation tools.
• Strong understanding of architecture, lighting, color theory, and composition.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
