Lead Frontend Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Lead Frontend Engineer to guide their frontend development efforts in Cambridge . You will be responsible for setting the technical direction, mentoring a team of frontend developers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, performant, and scalable user interfaces. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of complex, scalable, and maintainable frontend architectures.
• Mentor and guide a team of frontend engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain high-performance, responsive user interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Angular).
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate vision into functional and engaging user experiences.
• Drive the adoption of best practices in coding, testing, performance optimization, and accessibility.
• Work closely with backend engineers to define and consume APIs efficiently.
• Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure code quality and consistency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of experience in frontend development, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior technical role.
• Expertise in modern JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and at least one major frontend framework.
• Strong understanding of state management, component-based architecture, and build tools.
• Experience with performance optimization, cross-browser compatibility, and web accessibility standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
• Experience with cloud-native applications and micro-frontend architectures is a plus.
