Lead Geoscientist - Exploration

About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary Lead Geoscientist with a focus on exploration to bolster their team in Coventry . This pivotal role involves leading the geological and geophysical assessment of new exploration ventures, identifying and evaluating potential hydrocarbon resources. You will guide a team of geoscientists, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to interpret complex subsurface data. The position requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in prospect identification and risk assessment, contributing directly to the company's future growth and resource portfolio development. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the geological and geophysical interpretation of seismic and well data to identify and mature exploration prospects.
• Develop and manage exploration workflows, ensuring the highest standards of data quality and analysis.
• Conduct detailed basin analysis and play fairway mapping to de-risk potential hydrocarbon accumulations.
• Mentor and manage a team of geoscientists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Prepare and present comprehensive exploration reports and recommendations to senior management and joint venture partners.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in geoscience and exploration, integrating them into team practices.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science field.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in oil and gas exploration , with a strong emphasis on prospect generation.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing geoscience teams and projects.
• Expertise in seismic interpretation software (e.g., Kingdom Suite, Petrel) and geological modeling.
• Proven ability in prospect risk assessment, uncertainty analysis, and economic evaluation.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
