About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Geoscientist to spearhead their subsurface exploration and characterization efforts in the energy sector . This is a critical role based in Birmingham , offering a hybrid working model that balances collaborative office-based teamwork with focused remote productivity. You will be responsible for interpreting complex geological and geophysical data to identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon reserves, as well as contributing to the development of innovative exploration strategies. Your expertise will guide the company's strategic decisions regarding asset acquisition and field development, ensuring a robust and sustainable energy portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the interpretation of seismic, well log, and geological data to build accurate subsurface models.
- Identify and evaluate exploration opportunities, assessing geological risk and potential resource volumes.
- Develop and implement advanced geophysical processing and interpretation workflows.
- Collaborate with reservoir engineers and drilling teams to ensure effective subsurface data integration and well planning.
- Mentor and guide a team of geoscientists, fostering technical growth and best practices.
- Prepare and present technical findings and recommendations to management and joint venture partners.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
- Over 10 years of experience in exploration geoscience, with a proven track record in prospect generation.
- Expertise in seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom) and geological modeling techniques.
- Strong understanding of structural geology, sedimentology, and basin analysis.
- Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
- Experience with data management and quality control procedures for geological datasets.
