Lead Geoscientist - Subsurface Exploration

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly experienced Lead Geoscientist to spearhead their subsurface exploration initiatives in Coventry . This senior position involves leading geological and geophysical analysis to identify and evaluate potential energy reserves. You will be responsible for integrating diverse datasets, developing exploration strategies, and mentoring a team of geoscientists. This is a critical role for an individual with a proven track record in subsurface evaluation and a passion for driving innovation in energy exploration, contributing directly to the company's strategic growth and asset portfolio development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the interpretation of seismic, well log, and core data to define subsurface geological models.
• Develop and implement exploration strategies and work programs for new venture opportunities.
• Manage and mentor a team of geoscientists, providing technical guidance and fostering professional development.
• Perform prospectivity analysis and risk assessment for potential hydrocarbon accumulations.
• Collaborate closely with reservoir engineers and drilling teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Present findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related geoscience discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in oil and gas exploration , with a focus on integrated subsurface evaluation.
• Extensive experience with seismic interpretation software (e.g., Kingdom Suite, Petrel).
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience managing technical teams.
• Strong knowledge of regional geology and basin analysis.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
