About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Lead Geotechnical Engineer to oversee critical projects within the energy infrastructure sector in Birmingham . This senior position requires a proactive leader to manage all aspects of geotechnical investigations, design, and construction support for major energy projects, including renewables and traditional power generation. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety, stability, and performance of foundations, earthworks, and underground structures. The role demands extensive technical expertise in soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation design, along with strong project management and team leadership capabilities to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the geotechnical design and analysis for a variety of energy infrastructure projects, including wind farms, substations, and pipelines.
- Manage site investigations, including desk studies, intrusive ground investigations, and laboratory testing programs.
- Develop detailed design solutions for shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, and slope stability measures.
- Provide expert technical advice and direction to junior engineers and project teams.
- Review and approve geotechnical reports, calculations, and drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure successful project execution and risk mitigation.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional qualification.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with significant exposure to the energy sector .
- Expertise in finite element analysis software and foundation design principles.
- Proven track record in managing complex geotechnical projects from inception to completion.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor a team.
