About the Role
Our client is recruiting a skilled Drilling Engineer to join their operations based in Birmingham, West Midlands . This role is integral to the safe and efficient execution of drilling operations, focusing on well planning, execution, and optimization. You will be responsible for designing drilling programs, managing drilling risks, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects within the UK's energy sector, contributing to operational excellence from a hybrid work setup.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed drilling plans and procedures, including well trajectory, casing design, and cementing programs.
- Manage and supervise drilling operations on-site or remotely, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate drilling hazards and risks, implementing appropriate control measures.
- Specify and procure drilling equipment and services, optimizing cost-effectiveness.
- Analyze drilling data to identify areas for performance improvement and cost reduction.
- Ensure all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in drilling engineering, including offshore or onshore operations.
- Strong knowledge of drilling hydraulics, well control, and formation evaluation.
- Experience with drilling software and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with API standards and industry best practices for drilling operations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
