About the Role
Our client, a leader in AI & Emerging Technologies , is looking for an experienced Lead Machine Learning Engineer to head their R&D efforts in Newcastle upon Tyne . This pivotal role involves guiding a talented team of engineers and data scientists in the design, development, and deployment of sophisticated machine learning systems. You will be instrumental in advancing our client's AI capabilities, ensuring the delivery of scalable, robust, and impactful solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of machine learning engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Oversee the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle, from data ingestion and model training to deployment and monitoring.
- Develop and implement advanced machine learning models and algorithms for diverse business applications.
- Collaborate with product management and software engineering teams to define ML roadmaps and integrate AI solutions.
- Establish best practices for ML development, testing, and MLOps within the organization.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field with a focus on Machine Learning.
- 7+ years of professional experience in machine learning engineering, with a proven track record of leading projects.
- Expertise in Python and common ML libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, XGBoost) and deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and MLOps principles.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence technical direction.
