About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer to guide complex projects on a fully remote basis, supporting their strategic initiatives linked to Oxford, Oxfordshire . This role involves overseeing the design, integration, and validation of sophisticated mechanical systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. You will collaborate closely with a global, distributed team, providing technical leadership and driving engineering excellence from concept to deployment. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and integration of complex mechanical systems.
- Develop system requirements, specifications, and interface control documents (ICDs).
- Oversee and conduct system-level analysis , including performance, reliability, and integration testing.
- Manage the mechanical aspects of system development, ensuring alignment with overall project goals.
- Collaborate closely with a remote team of engineers across various disciplines (electrical, software, materials).
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level integration issues.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Significant experience (9+ years) in mechanical systems engineering, including design, integration, and testing.
- Proven experience leading technical teams and projects, preferably in a remote or distributed environment.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, CAD tools , and analysis techniques.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and best practices.
