Lead Mining Engineer - Operations

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Mining Engineer to oversee operational aspects of their mining projects, based out of our Coventry hub. This senior position requires a strategic thinker adept at optimizing mining processes, ensuring safety protocols are rigorously followed, and managing project timelines and budgets effectively. You will lead a team of mining engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of various mining techniques, including open-pit and underground operations, and be committed to driving efficiency and innovation within the mining industry, contributing to the successful execution of large-scale mining endeavors.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor operational mining plans to meet production targets efficiently and safely.
• Supervise and mentor a team of mining engineers and site personnel, providing technical guidance and leadership.
• Conduct feasibility studies and mine design optimizations, focusing on maximizing resource recovery and minimizing costs.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders involved in mining operations.
• Analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mining operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Proven expertise in mine planning, scheduling, and production management.
• In-depth knowledge of mining equipment, technologies, and safety best practices.
• Experience with mine simulation and design software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
