Lead Project Manager (R&D)

About the Role

Our client is searching for an accomplished Lead Project Manager to spearhead Research and Development (R&D) initiatives within their dynamic, fully remote organization. This pivotal role involves overseeing the entire lifecycle of R&D projects, from conceptualization and feasibility studies through to prototyping and implementation, ensuring alignment with strategic innovation goals. You will collaborate closely with scientists, engineers, and product development teams, fostering a culture of creativity and rigorous scientific inquiry. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership abilities, a deep understanding of R&D processes, and a proven track record of successfully managing cutting-edge projects in a distributed environment, driving groundbreaking discoveries and technological advancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a portfolio of R&D projects , ensuring strategic alignment and successful execution from initiation to completion.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope definition, resource allocation, risk assessment, and timeline management.
• Foster strong collaboration and communication among cross-functional R&D teams, stakeholders, and external partners in a fully remote capacity.
• Oversee budget management for R&D projects, ensuring efficient allocation of financial resources.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and implement effective mitigation strategies to maintain project momentum.
• Drive innovation by encouraging creative problem-solving and the exploration of new technologies and methodologies.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in project management , with a significant focus on Research and Development (R&D) projects.
• Demonstrated success in leading complex, multi-disciplinary R&D initiatives in a remote or hybrid setting.
• Strong understanding of scientific research processes, product development lifecycles, and innovation methodologies.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with R&D project management tools and techniques.
• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant scientific or technical field; PMP or equivalent certification is highly valued.
