About the Role
Our client, a highly respected game development studio in Southampton , is looking for a talented and experienced Lead Sound Designer to spearhead audio creation for their upcoming titles. This role is central to crafting immersive and engaging auditory experiences that define their games. You will lead a team of sound designers, manage the audio pipeline, and collaborate closely with game designers, programmers, and artists to integrate sound seamlessly into gameplay. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the sound design team, providing creative direction, mentorship, and feedback on audio assets and implementation.
- Design, record, and implement high-quality sound effects, ambient audio, and interactive audio systems for video games.
- Collaborate with game designers and narrative teams to ensure audio effectively enhances gameplay mechanics, story, and player immersion.
- Manage the audio asset pipeline, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficient integration into the game engine.
- Develop and maintain audio documentation, including sound lists, implementation guides, and mixing specifications.
- Stay current with advancements in game audio technology, middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD), and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sound Designer in the video game industry, with at least one shipped title in a lead or senior capacity.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional sound design skills across various game genres and audio systems.
- Proficiency with industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) and game audio middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD).
- Experience with audio implementation within game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage projects and mentor team members.
