About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Telecoms Technician to oversee critical operations within their network infrastructure based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is essential for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the company's telecommunications systems, ensuring seamless connectivity for their wide-ranging customer base. As the Lead Technician, you will be responsible for the hands-on installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunications equipment and systems. You will also play a key role in mentoring a team of technicians, upholding the highest standards of service delivery in this vital telecoms role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the installation, configuration, and repair of telecommunications equipment, including switches, routers, and transmission systems.
- Conduct regular maintenance checks and proactive troubleshooting to prevent service disruptions across the Newcastle upon Tyne region.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to a team of telecoms technicians, ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards.
- Respond to service outages and network emergencies, diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues swiftly.
- Maintain accurate records of network assets, maintenance activities, and repair logs within the company's database.
- Collaborate with engineering and support teams to implement network upgrades and new service deployments, ensuring minimal impact on live services.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a Telecoms Technician or similar role within the telecommunications sector.
- Strong understanding of fibre optics, copper cabling, DSL, and VoIP technologies.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing faults in complex telecommunications networks.
- Experience with network testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor technical teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
