About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly competent and experienced Livestock Farm Manager to oversee their extensive animal farming operations based in Portsmouth . This leadership role requires a comprehensive understanding of animal husbandry, herd/flock management, health and welfare, and operational efficiency. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the livestock enterprise, including breeding programs, feeding regimes, health protocols, and staff supervision, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and productivity. This is a significant opportunity for a dedicated individual to manage a key agricultural asset and contribute to the success of a dynamic farming business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the livestock farm, ensuring optimal animal health and welfare.
- Develop and implement effective breeding, feeding, and vaccination programs.
- Supervise and train livestock farm staff, fostering a culture of care and responsibility.
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of animal housing, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Monitor livestock performance, analyze data, and implement strategies for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations concerning animal welfare, biosecurity, and environmental protection.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in livestock farm management, with a proven track record.
- Deep knowledge of animal husbandry practices for relevant species (e.g., cattle, sheep, pigs).
- Strong understanding of animal health, nutrition, and veterinary care.
- Experience in managing and leading a farm team.
- Ability to manage budgets, resources, and operational plans effectively.
- Relevant agricultural qualification or degree is preferred.
