Livestock Farm Hand

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Livestock Farm Hand to assist with the daily care and management of their animals at their farm near Portsmouth . This role involves a range of essential tasks critical to the health, welfare, and productivity of their cattle and sheep. The successful candidate will be responsible for feeding, cleaning, monitoring animal health, and assisting with general farm maintenance. This is a practical, hands-on position for someone who enjoys working with animals and contributing to the smooth operation of a busy agricultural unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Feed and water livestock according to established schedules and dietary requirements.
• Clean and maintain animal housing, including stables, barns, and pens, ensuring hygienic conditions.
• Monitor animals for signs of illness or distress, reporting any concerns to the farm manager.
• Assist with animal handling, including moving livestock and preparing them for veterinary treatments.
• Operate farm machinery and equipment for tasks such as muck spreading and field maintenance.
• Perform general farm upkeep, including fencing repairs and site tidiness.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with livestock is highly desirable.
• Basic understanding of animal husbandry and welfare principles.
• Ability to operate basic farm machinery and equipment safely.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
• Reliable, punctual, and a good team player.
