About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive Livestock Officer to manage animal welfare and operational efficiency at their farm in Leeds . This role involves the day-to-day care of various livestock, implementing health and breeding programs, and maintaining farm records. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of animal husbandry and contributing to the overall productivity of the farm. Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for livestock, including feeding, watering, and ensuring access to clean environments.
- Monitor animal health, administer basic treatments, and report any concerns or significant changes to veterinary staff.
- Implement and manage breeding programs to optimize herd or flock productivity.
- Maintain accurate records of animal movements, health status, births, and sales.
- Ensure farm biosecurity measures are strictly adhered to, preventing the spread of diseases.
- Operate and maintain equipment related to livestock management and feeding.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in caring for farm animals.
- Good knowledge of livestock breeds, health requirements, and nutritional needs.
- Ability to recognize signs of illness or distress in animals.
- Physical fitness and willingness to perform manual tasks in various weather conditions.
- Good record-keeping and organizational abilities.
- A qualification in Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field is preferred.
