About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly organized and experienced Livestock Manager to oversee their animal husbandry operations in Leeds . This role is critical for ensuring the health, welfare, and productivity of all livestock on the farm. You will be responsible for daily care, breeding programs, and implementing best practices in animal management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal science and a passion for ensuring high standards of animal welfare, working within a well-established agricultural setting that values ethical treatment and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily feeding, watering, and general care of all livestock (e.g., cattle, sheep, poultry).
- Develop and implement breeding and vaccination programs to enhance herd/flock health and productivity.
- Monitor animal health, identify signs of illness, and implement prompt treatment plans.
- Maintain detailed records of animal performance, health, and breeding.
- Manage and train livestock handlers, ensuring adherence to welfare standards and safe working practices.
- Ensure facilities and equipment related to livestock are maintained in good working order.
Requirements
- Significant experience in livestock management, preferably in a supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of animal welfare regulations and best practices.
- Experience with animal health monitoring, disease prevention, and treatment protocols.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
- A relevant qualification in Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field is preferred.
