Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations related to livestock care, including feeding, watering, and sanitation.
- Monitor animal health and welfare, implementing preventative health programs and collaborating with veterinarians.
- Develop and manage nutrition plans tailored to the specific needs of different livestock breeds and life stages.
- Implement and manage breeding programs to improve herd/flock productivity and genetic quality.
- Maintain accurate records of animal health, breeding, production, and feed consumption.
- Advise on best practices for livestock management, housing, and environmental control.
Requirements
- Degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Technology, or a related field.
- Significant practical experience in livestock management, covering areas like nutrition, health, and reproduction.
- Knowledge of best practices in animal welfare and biosecurity protocols.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to identify signs of illness or distress.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
