Maintenance Technician - Industrial Machinery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair a wide range of industrial machinery at their facility in Portsmouth . You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of production equipment through planned preventative maintenance and prompt fault diagnosis and repair. This hands-on role is critical for minimizing downtime and maximizing production efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to safety in the industrial environment of Portsmouth .

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on all production machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system faults.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and ensure timely restoration of service.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts used, and time spent.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with electrical systems, including PLC troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in reading technical diagrams and schematics.
• Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and testing equipment.
• Good problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to diagnostics.
• Awareness of health and safety best practices in a workshop environment.
• Relevant vocational qualification (e.g., NVQ, HNC) in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred.
