About the Role

Our client is seeking a sophisticated and experienced Major Gifts Fundraiser to cultivate and secure significant donations from high-net-worth individuals in the Reading area and beyond. This senior role requires exceptional relationship-building skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of philanthropy. You will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and stewarding major donors, playing a critical role in securing the substantial funding needed to advance the charity's ambitious goals. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, possess impeccable communication skills, and have a proven track record of success in securing large gifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects in the Reading region and nationally.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with major donors and their advisors.
• Plan and host exclusive events for major donors and prospective supporters.
• Work closely with senior leadership and the board to leverage their networks and facilitate introductions.
• Prepare compelling proposals and case statements tailored to the interests of major donors.
• Ensure effective stewardship of major gifts, reporting on impact and maintaining donor engagement.
• Manage a portfolio of major donor prospects and existing donors, achieving ambitious fundraising targets.

Requirements

• Substantial experience in major gifts fundraising, preferably within a large charity or non-profit organisation.
• Proven success in soliciting and closing significant financial gifts (e.g., £10,000+).
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively at senior levels.
• Strong strategic planning and project management capabilities.
• Proficiency in fundraising databases (e.g., Raiser's Edge) and CRM systems.
• A deep understanding of philanthropic motivations and a passion for the charity's cause.
