About the Role
Our client, a leader in marine technology, is seeking a dedicated Marine Electrical Engineer to join their operations in Portsmouth . This role is crucial for the design, installation, and maintenance of complex electrical systems on board vessels and maritime facilities. You will work on a variety of projects, ensuring the highest standards of safety and performance in challenging marine environments. This is a hands-on position requiring strong technical skills and a commitment to excellence in a sector that demands precision and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and specify electrical systems for new builds and refits of marine vessels.
- Oversee the installation and integration of electrical equipment, including power generation, distribution, and control systems.
- Conduct pre-commissioning checks and full system commissioning for marine electrical installations.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults on vessels, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Ensure compliance with marine electrical standards (e.g., DNV, Lloyd's Register) and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with naval architects, project managers, and ship crews to deliver successful projects.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related maritime engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in marine electrical engineering.
- Strong knowledge of marine power systems, navigation electronics, and communication equipment.
- Familiarity with relevant classification society rules and maritime regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently on projects, often in a shipyard environment.
- Willingness to travel to different ports and undertake site-based work as needed.
