Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team based in Coventry . This role involves contributing to the entire product development lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to prototyping and manufacturing support. You will work on challenging projects, developing robust mechanical systems and components that meet demanding performance criteria. This hybrid position offers a blend of collaborative on-site work and focused remote tasks, providing flexibility while ensuring strong team integration and knowledge sharing. Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software .
• Conduct design reviews, perform calculations, and implement engineering best practices to ensure product integrity and functionality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to resolve design challenges and optimize manufacturability.
• Participate in the prototyping and testing phases, analysing results and iterating on designs to meet performance targets.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation, including specifications and user manuals.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and industry trends to propose innovative design solutions.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering , Product Design, or a closely related discipline.
• Proven experience in mechanical design, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD packages and understanding of GD&T principles.
• Familiarity with various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
