Mechanical Engineer - R&D

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative Mechanical Engineer to join their Research and Development team in Cambridge . This role is ideal for an engineer passionate about exploring new technologies and developing cutting-edge solutions. You will contribute to the conceptualization and design of novel systems, working within a dynamic R&D environment that encourages creativity and experimentation. This position offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to contribute effectively from both the office and a remote location, supporting projects in Cambridgeshire .

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in the research and development of new mechanical concepts and technologies.
• Design and develop prototypes and experimental setups using 3D CAD and relevant simulation tools.
• Conduct thorough testing and analysis of novel designs, documenting findings and performance metrics.
• Collaborate closely with other R&D engineers, scientists, and external partners in a hybrid model.
• Contribute to technical feasibility studies and present findings to the R&D management team.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges and propose innovative solutions for complex engineering problems.

  Requirements
• MSc or MEng in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with an R&D focus.
• 3-6 years of experience in mechanical design, R&D, or a related technical role.
• Proficiency in CAD software and experience with simulation tools (e.g., FEA, CFD).
• Strong understanding of scientific principles and experimental methodologies.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for work in Cambridge .
